Wey Education appoints Barrie Whipp to the Board as Non-Executive Director

– UK, London – Wey Education plc (AIM:WEY), the education group operating an established online independent secondary school in the UK, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Barrie Whipp, as a Non-executive Director of the Company.

Barrie is Executive Chairman of Crimson Tide Plc (AIM:TIDE) which he founded in 1996 and formulated the ideas behind the Group’s mpro5 solution in 2003. Previously, after a career in finance, he founded the financial services arm of Tiphook plc and was Group Managing Director of IAF Group Plc. He has served as a non-executive director of Wills Group plc as well as a number of private companies.

Barrie has a particular interest in education, having served as a Governor of Frant Church of England Primary School for 8 years, latterly as Chair of Governors. He has an Honours degree in History from the Open University and currently studies online with the University of Derby.

Commenting on the appointment of Mr Whipp the Chairman David Massie said: “In seeking a new Non-executive Director of the Company we undertook a search to find candidates with the relevant experience, personal capacity and drive to help take the Company to the next level of its development. The Group has major long term growth plans and Barrie’s technical oversight will assist the Board to support and help oversee those plans. We believe he will make a valuable contribution to our Board.”

Wey Education is a holding company of an educational group with two trading divisions. Through InterHigh the Company owns and operates a fully interactive, online independent secondary school in the UK, offering IGCSEs, ‘AS’ Levels and ‘A’ Levels. Through Wey Consultancy it operates a consultancy business, assisting parties seeking to sponsor free schools and academies.
