On 16th December 2013 we announced that Gareth Bullock had advised the Board that he would not seek re-election at the Annual General Meeting on 20th May 2014, after completing the nine year maximum tenure for assured independence, but that he would remain as Senior Independent Director until the AGM. Jamie Pike has agreed to take over as the Senior Independent Director after the AGM, subject to his election by shareholders as required in respect of all newly appointed Directors.
Jamie Pike is Chairman of Lafarge Tarmac Limited, the leading construction materials and services company, Tyman plc, an international supplier of building products, and RPC Group, a plastic packaging company. Jamie Pike joined Burmah Castrol in 1991 and was Chief Executive of Burmah Castrol Chemicals before leading the Foseco buy-out in 2001 and its subsequent flotation in 2005. He was Chief Executive of Foseco plc until it was acquired in 2008. Jamie Pike was educated at Oxford and holds an MBA from INSEAD.
Bill Whiteley, Chairman, commented, “I am delighted to welcome Jamie to the Board of Directors. His broad industrial engineering and international business experience will benefit the further development of the Group. Jamie’s skills as a Non-Executive and his good relationship with shareholders, place him in an ideal position to act as our Senior Independent Director”.
