– SWITZERLAND, St. Gallen –  Raiffeisen Switzerland today announced the nominations for the election of Board member Thomas Müller as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors alongside Sandra Lathion and Dr. Martin Sieg Castagnola joining as new Board members, at Extraordinary General Meeting to be held on December 3, 2021.

“Thomas A. Müller is very familiar with the Raiffeisen Group and cooperative banking and thus offers a guarantee of continuity in management. As a proven financial expert with extensive experience in banking, he fully meets the requirements profile and is therefore the ideal candidate for the position.

In addition to his previous activities for Raiffeisen Switzerland, Thomas A. Müller has been Chairman of the Swiss Takeover Board since 2016. Previously, the 56-year-old was Group Chief Risk Officer and member of the Executive Board of EFG International and held other management positions within the EFG Group. Before that, he was, inter alia, Group CFO of Bank J. Safra Sarasin AG and, from 2006 to 2009, a member of the Swiss Life Group’s Executive Board as Group CFO & Chief Risk Officer. Thomas Müller thus has in-depth banking expertise, many years of management experience in the financial sector, and proven experience in finance, risk, and compliance issues. He will step down from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Credit Exchange AG when he takes office as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Raiffeisen Switzerland, as will his mandate as a member of the Board of Directors of Copernicus Wealth Management AG.

“I am very pleased that the Board of Directors of Raiffeisen Switzerland has expressed its confidence in me for this responsible task by nominating me. I look forward to continuing on the successful path taken by Raiffeisen and to working with my colleagues on the Board of Directors to further advance our entire cooperative banking group,” commented Thomas Müller.
