Morgan Advanced Materials announces Douglas Caster and Rob Rowley to Board as Non-Executive Directors

– UK – Morgan Advanced Materials plc today announces that Douglas Caster and Rob Rowley will be joining the Board as Non-Executive Directors, with effect from 14 February 2014.

Douglas Caster CBE is currently Chairman of Ultra Electronics, a role he assumed in April 2011, having served on the Board since 1993. Douglas has more than 35 years’ experience in engineering, having begun his career as an electronics design engineer with Racal Electronics Group in 1975. He also worked at Schlumberger and subsequently Dowty, where he participated in the management buyout which formed Ultra Electronics.

Rob Rowley has been Senior Independent Director at Taylor Wimpey since 2010 and has been a Non-Executive Director at Moneysupermarket.com Group since 2007. Previously, Rob sat on the boards of Intu Properties, Cable & Wireless, Prudential, Taylor Nelson Sofres and Reuters. Rob spent much of his executive career at Reuters, joining in 1978 and serving as Finance Director from 1990 to 2000.

After serving on Morgan’s Board for more than nine years each, Simon Heale, Remuneration Committee Chairman, will step down on 31 March 2014, and Martin Flower, Senior Independent Director, will step down after the Annual General Meeting on 9 May 2014. Andrew Given, who has been on the Board since 2007, will take over the role of Senior Independent Director from 9 May 2014, and Douglas Caster will become Remuneration Committee Chairman from 1 April 2014.

About Douglas Caster

Douglas Caster started his career as an electronics design engineer with the Racal Electronics Group in 1975, before moving to Schlumberger in 1986 and then to Dowty as Engineering Director of Sonar & Communication Systems in 1988. In 1992, he became Managing Director of that business and, after participating in the management buy-out that formed Ultra Electronics, joined the Board in October 1993. In April 2000, he was promoted to the position of Managing Director of Ultra’s Information & Power Systems division. In April 2004 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer and became Chief Executive in April 2005. He was appointed deputy Chairman in April 2010 and became Chairman of Ultra in April 2011.
