Kazakhstan Kagazy announces Tony Baldry as new Chairman, and Sarosh Zaiwalla as Non-Executive Director

– KAZAKHSTAN – Kazakhstan Kagazy Plc has announced the appointment of Sir Tony Baldry MP as its new Chairman. Sir Tony, a UK Member of Parliament for 30 years also served as Minister of State for eight years in the governments of both John Major and Margaret Thatcher.

Sir Tony succeeds John Khabbaz, who has elected to step down as Chairman.

Commenting on developments, Kazakhstan Kagazy CEO, Tomas Mateos Werner, said: ‘Clearly, these are important developments in the longer-term future of Kazakhstan Kagazy. I want to thank John Khabbaz for his support and leadership. He has been instrumental in the company’s growth to date. The arrival of Sir Tony Baldry is a significant one for the company, which will, undoubtedly, help us continue to build Kazakhstan Kagazy into a highly respected, world-class business.’

Sir Tony Baldry added: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining Kazakhstan Kagazy at such an exciting time for the company. I believe it has the assets and the right people in place to ensure sustained growth. John Khabbaz commented: ‘I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with Kazakhstan Kagazy and now it feels right for me to step down, having added a level of shareholder value to the operation. As a major shareholder, I believe Sir Tony Baldry to be the right man to build on what we’ve achieved thus far.’

In a further move to strengthen the Kazakhstan Kagazy Board, the Company also announced the appointment of Sarosh Zaiwalla as a Non-Executive Director to the company. Sarosh Zaiwalla is Senior Partner at leading London law firm, Zaiwalla & Co and is an internationally recognised arbitrator, having acted for clients ranging from the President of India, to the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
