ITV announces Sharmila Nebhrajani to its Board as Independent Director

– UK, London –  ITV PLC (LON: ITV) today announced the appointment of Sharmila Nebhrajani to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director and member of the Remuneration Committee effective from 10 December 2020.

“Sharmila brings extensive board experience spanning public policy, regulatory and public listed businesses, which will further strengthen the mix of expertise and experience on the Board. On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Sharmila to ITV.” said Board Chairman, Sir Peter Bazalgette.

Sharmila will succeed Roger Faxon, who will be stepping down from the Board on 10 December 2020, having served for eight years.

Sir  Bazalgette added: “I would like to thank Roger for his very significant contribution to the Company during his eight years on the Board. We have benefitted greatly from his wise counsel and Roger will depart with the Board’s very best wishes and deep gratitude.”

About Sharmila Nebhrajani

Sharmila has strong public service, government and commercial experience across a wide range of sectors. She studied Medicine at the University of Oxford and is a Chartered Accountant, starting her business career in strategy consulting at PwC. Her previous media and communications experience includes roles at Cable & Wireless and 13 years at the BBC ending her time as COO of its Future Media & Technology division, where she managed the business functions of bbc.co.uk, including the launch of iPlayer.

She is currently a Non-executive Director of Severn Trent plc, Chairman of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and Non-executive Director of National Savings & Investments. Most recently Sharmila was Chief Executive of Wilton Park, an executive agency of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office convening international policy dialogues on key areas of geopolitical significance from Global Health and Climate Change to Nuclear Non-proliferation and Challenges to Democracy. Sharmila received an OBE in 2014 for services to medical research.
