James Fisher and Sons announces David Moorhouse and Michael Salter as Non-Executive Directors

UK – James Fisher and Sons plc, the leading marine services provider, announces the appointment of two Non-Executive directors to the Board with effect from 1 August 2013.

David Moorhouse, CBE – formerly Executive Chairman of Lloyds Register and earlier in his career, CEO of John Brown plc, Director of Trafalgar House plc and Executive Vice President of Kvaerner where he had particular responsibility for their engineering and process businesses. David is currently a Non-Executive director of OAO Sovcomflot and Braemar Shipping plc as well as holding a number of senior voluntary posts including Deputy Chairman of Maritime London and of the Mission to Seafarers. He is also a life member of the UK’s Foundation for Science and Technology.

Michael Salter – formerly Chief Operating Officer at Abbot Group plc and earlier in his career, CEO of Smedvig UK and General Manager of Bawden Drilling UK Ltd. Michael has recently stepped down as Chairman of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce and is Chairman of the Board of the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He is a non-executive director of Ferguson Group Ltd and Non-Executive Chairman of CQS Rig Finance Fund plc (AIM listed) and of SAR Gruppen AS.

Following their appointment, Maurice Storey CB who is the current Senior Independent Director of James Fisher will retire from the board on 31 December 2013, having served for over nine years.

Commenting on the changes, Charles Rice, Chairman said “The appointment of David and Michael will strengthen the Board’s insight into the Oil and Gas sectors and provide a full replacement of the technical and maritime knowledge which Maurice Storey has brought to the Board.
