– UK, London – Brighton Pier Group PLC (LON: PIER), a diversified UK leisure and entertainment business, announced the appointment of Dr. Duncan Garrood (Ph.D.) to its Board as a Senior Independent Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

About Duncan Garrood
Duncan Garrood has significant expertise in the consumer and leisure sectors with a career spanning over 40 years. He has Board-level experience in private and public businesses and currently holds the position of CEO of Empiric Student Property plc, the FTSE 250 provider of premium accommodation and services to students at many of the UK’s top universities.
Previously, Duncan Garrood served as a senior adviser to Blue Crescent Capital, an independent private equity firm, and for the past six years as Chairman of Small Beer Brew Co, an independent low-alcohol brewer in South London. Duncan was CEO of Ten Entertainment plc, one of the UK’s leading family entertainment companies between 2018 and 2020. Before Ten Entertainment, Duncan was CEO of Bill’s Restaurants, overseeing 80 sites and 3,000 employees. Before joining Bill’s Restaurants, Duncan was CEO at Punch Taverns Limited (formerly Punch Taverns plc), the UK’s second-largest pub company with over 3,500 pubs.
Duncan Garrood has further previously served on the Board as President of M.H Alshaya where he was responsible for the Group’s food division, and before that was Regional Vice President of SC Johnson. He began his career at Unilever PLC, serving for over 20 years in a variety of management positions in the UK and latterly Shanghai, China.
Dr. Duncan Garrood holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Imperial College, London.
