Westcon Group appoints Dolph Westerbos as new CEO

– USA, NY – Westcon Group, a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data center and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers, today named industry veteran Dolph Westerbos as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. With more than 20 years of B2B services and channel leadership experience at companies ranging from Dell to Brambles and ModusLink, Westerbos succeeds Dean Douglas, who will be leaving to pursue another business opportunity announced later this week.

“I’d like to sincerely thank Dean for the role he played in globalizing Westcon and expanding its footprint during the five years he led the organization,” said Jens Montanana, Chief Executive Officer, Datatec. “His strategic vision and experience in the technology and channel industry will serve him well and I wish him the most success in his new endeavours.”

Dean Douglas said: “I would like to thank all of those at Westcon who have supported me during the remarkable transformation of Westcon into a global player over the last five years.”

Westerbos comes to Westcon Group from Brambles (ASX: BXB) and CHEP, where he served as Group President of Asia Pacific and EMEA for the supply chain and pooling solutions provider. As Westcon’s newest executive, Westerbos will build upon the company’s leadership in value-added distribution — with more than $4 billion in revenue and presence in 60 countries across six continents.

Continued Montanana, “Dolph has a great track-record of managing organizations that couple premier technology-based solutions and services, built on strong operational capabilities. Combined with his global background and experience in emerging markets, this makes him a great fit to take Westcon’s market leadership even further.”

While at Brambles, Westerbos was responsible for helping generate services revenues of $2 billion across 7,000 employees, with operations in more than 40 countries. While there, he also led the company’s market strategy, product development, and global customer organizations.

Westerbos also performed as Vice President of Solutions and Services for EMEA at Dell, shepherding its managed services, consulting and data center products business to revenues of approximately $2.5 billion across 50 countries. Previously, he helped establish Dell’s European channel business and managed reseller partner relationships in Western Europe.

Before Dell, Dolph worked at NASDAQ-listed ModusLink, a global provider of supply chain, IT and business process outsourcing services, for 12 years in a number of international senior general management, operations, technology and sales roles.

“Westcon’s success is based on an ability to deliver real-world technology solutions and services that target the most difficult challenges facing the data center, network, security, and unified communications marketplaces. This has been accomplished by integrating strong vendor relationships alongside an unmatched technology vision and deep services,” commented Westerbos. “I’m excited to be joining the company at this pivotal time to accelerate its next stage of growth.”

Westerbos holds a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He will be based at the company’s global headquarters in Tarrytown, NY.
