– UK, Leeds – Virgin Money UK PLC (LON: VMUK) today announced the appointment of Sara Weller CBE to its Board as a Non-Executive Director, effective from 3 October 2022, as the Representative Director of Virgin Enterprises Limited.

About Sara Weller
Sara Weller is currently a non-executive director of BT Group plc. Her most recent previous non-executive director roles include over nine years on the board of Lloyds Banking Group plc between 2012 and 2021 where she was chair of the Responsible Business Committee and more than eight years as a board member and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at United Utilities Group PLC between 2012 and 2020.

Sara Weller CBE is an independent non-executive director of BT Group plc and a member of BT’s Audit & Risk, Nominations, Digital Impact & Sustainability, and Compliance committees. In September 2022 she joined the Money and Pensions Service board. She is also currently Chair of the Remuneration Committee at New College, University of Oxford, and a member of the Stop MS Campaign Board, part of the MS Society charity. Sara’s previous roles include managing Argos and various senior positions at J Sainsbury, including deputy managing director and serving on its board between 2002 and 2004. Sara was a non-executive director of Lloyds Banking Group from February 2012 to May 2021 and United Utilities Group from March 2012 to July 2020. She was also the lead non-executive director at the Department for Work and Pensions from April 2017 until April 2020. She was previously a non-executive director of Mitchells & Butlers and held senior management roles at Abbey National and Mars Confectionery.
