The Walt Disney Company announces Board member James Gorman as next Chairman of its Board of Directors

– USA, CA –  The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) announced the appointment of James Gorman as Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective January 2, 2025, to succeed Mark Parker who will step down from the Board on January 2.

About James P. Gorman

James Gorman is Executive Chairman of Morgan Stanley and, as previously announced, will be stepping down from that role on December 31, 2024. He is currently Chair of the Disney Succession Planning Committee, which is working to identify and prepare the next chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company.

James Gorman served as Morgan Stanley’s EO from 2010 to 2023 and Chairman from 2012 to 2023. He joined the firm in 2006 and was named Co-President in 2007. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he held executive positions at Merrill Lynch and was a senior partner at McKinsey & Co. He serves as a Director of the Council on Foreign Relations and is a member of the Business Council. He formerly served as a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and President of the Federal Advisory Council to the U.S. Federal Reserve Board. Gorman has been a Director of the Company since 2024.
