– SWITZERLAND, Bern – Swiss National Bank (SWX: SNBN), the central bank of Switzerland, responsible for the nation’s monetary policy and the sole issuer of Swiss franc banknotes, today announced the nomination of Romeo Lacher, Board Chairman of Julius Baer Group Ltd. and Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd., and Christoph Mäder, President of economiesuisse, for the election to its Bank Council to be held at the next General Meeting of Shareholders of 30 April 2021.
They will succeed Olivier Steimer and Heinz Karrer, who will both be leaving the Bank Council at the end of April 2021.
Mr Steimer, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, will be stepping down due to the statutory limit on the maximum term of office. He was elected to the Bank Council in 2009 and provided valuable service in particular as its Vice President and as Head of the Compensation Committee.
Mr Karrer, until recently President of economiesuisse, owing to his having left that position. He was elected to the Bank Council in 2014 and made important contributions as a Member of the Audit Committee.
