– USA, TX – STW Resources Holding Corp an integrated provider of water management, including water reclamation and remediation, and oilfield services, announced today that Alan Murphy, President of STW Water Process & Technologies, a subsidiary of STW Resources, was unanimously appointed to its Board of Directors in a vote held Friday, August 21, 2015.
Mr. Murphy has more than 25 years of water industry experience encompassing the design, operations and management of water projects including project management and construction. He has been involved in the design, engineering, construction, and/or maintenance of over 700 water-technology related projects in Texas and internationally. As a licensed electrical journeyman in the State of Texas and certified as a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Level III Water Treatment Specialist, Mr. Murphy is a noted expert in the field of water technology, primarily in municipal, industrial, and oil/gas applications. He has in-depth technical knowledge, including various types of membrane filtration systems, water recovery, reuse, reclamation processes and desalination systems. He also has experience in state and federal regulatory compliance as well as electrical, automation controls, process design, troubleshooting services and complete installation, full-scale commissioning, training and plant operations.
Stanley Weiner, CEO of STW Resources, said, “Alan is a very important and well respected leader in the world of water reclamation. I have known and worked with him for several years now. Even though there are many well-respected and very bright water guys out here, I find him to be the absolute brightest that I know. He has worked with almost every water technology available in some capacity. He not only is knowledgeable about the various technologies, but he also understands the purpose of each one and how it can be used to treat and remove the different contaminants from dirty water in the most effective and cost efficient manner. He also understands water contamination and the issues with it, but he is also ‘hands on’ when it comes to manufacturing, installation, and the commissioning of systems. His specialties include municipal wastewater and the desalination of brackish, seawater, and oilfield-produced and flowback waters to meet potable standards for use in municipalities and industrial applications.”
Mr. Weiner continued, “Alan has been instrumental in the application of newer and more advanced and efficient desalination technologies which recover more fresh water at lower costs from contaminated and salt laden waters. Historically, the world has been negligent in managing its fresh water resources and ultimately has wasted them. While the conventional desalination and reclamation technologies are somewhat effective, they regularly recover only approximately 45-55% fresh water. These older technologies produce an incredible amount of wastewater that has to be either dumped into the ocean, which negatively affects the delicate ecology, or disposed of by evaporation or deep well disposal methods, thus wasting our ‘alternative’ water resources.”
Mr. Weiner concluded, “The approach that Alan takes moves these inefficient technologies into almost extinction since the advanced technologies that he has been instrumental in introducing and implementing can recover up to 95-98% of fresh water from saltwater and contaminated industrial water economically. He has also introduced another technology that can economically and feasibly treat municipal wastewater effluent for Direct Potable Reuse (DPR). The current technologies available can treat municipal wastewater effluent, but have inherent problems with bacteria being able to ultimately pass through the system and thus rendering the system ineffective over long periods of time. Billions of gallons of semi-treated municipal wastewater effluent are discarded daily into our rivers and oceans, which can instead be treated to potable DPR standards. The current practice is to treat the wastewater effluent and then inject it into underground reservoirs to be pumped out later for use. This methodology adds substantial costs that are simply unwarranted and are passed on to the customer… you and me. This continuation of ridiculous mismanagement of our water resources is what we, at STW Resources, are endeavoring to change.”
Mr. Murphy said, “I am honored to have this opportunity to join such a distinguished Board and to continue the quest to help treat any and all possible contaminated and salt water resources. At STW, I have the liberty to research, test, and bring new technologies to the market to make water reclamation more effective and less costly. One of my objectives is to ultimately make clean water available to everyone. There are many people in the world without clean water and I think we can have a dramatic impact on this global problem.”
Mr. Murphy added, “I am also extremely excited about our recent move into the manufacturing sector with our new partner, Sunstone Water Group. They have some of the most advanced, cutting edge technologies that will ultimately be the standard of water treating technologies and we are part of the catalyst to bring these technologies to fruition.”
