Resilient Systems adds Bill Swanson to its Board of Directors

– USA, MA – Resilient Systems, the leading Incident Response Platform (IRP) provider, today announced that William H. Swanson has joined its Board of Directors. Swanson, chairman of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership and retired chairman and CEO of Raytheon Company, is a renowned business leader and champion of corporate responsibility, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, and armed services support. During his tenure as Raytheon’s CEO, sales grew by 26 percent, the stock price and dividend each increased three-fold, and corporate debt was virtually eliminated.

Bruce added that Swanson joins Resilient Systems’ Board of Directors at a pivotal time in the company’s history. Over the past year, Resilient has seen 500 percent growth. Customer count grew by 250 percent and now includes more than 30 Fortune 500 companies.

Swanson served as CEO of Raytheon from July 2003 to March 2014 and chairman from January 2004 to October 2014. He joined in 1972 and held a wide range of leadership positions, including manufacturing manager of the company’s largest operation, senior vice president and general manager of the Missile Systems Division, general manager of Raytheon Electronic Systems, president of Electronic Systems, and president of Raytheon.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Swanson is also a member of the Department of Defense’s Defense Business Board; the TJX Companies, Inc. Board of Directors; and the Next Era Energy, Inc. Board of Directors; as well as chairman of its Audit Committee. He is also an emeritus director of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation board, and vice chairperson of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation Board of Directors.

Swanson is also active in education, serving as chairman of the California Polytechnic State University Foundation Board of Directors and as a member of Cal Poly President’s Cabinet and the University of Massachusetts President’s Advisory Council.

A native of California, Swanson graduated magna cum laude from California Polytechnic State University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. His graduate work was performed in business administration at Golden Gate University. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Pepperdine University and an honorary Doctor of Science degree from California Polytechnic State University.
