Marks & Spencer announces Evelyn Bourke to its Board as upcoming Non-Executive Director

– UK, London –  Marks and Spencer Group plc (LON: MKS) today announced the appointment of  Evelyn Bourke to its Board as a Non-Executive Director, effective from 1 February 2021.

“I am delighted to welcome Evelyn to the board. She is extremely smart, has highly relevant experience and her appointment further strengthens and broadens the Board, who remain closely engaged with the executive team.” said Board Chairman, Archie Norman.

Evelyn is due to retire from her current role as CEO of Bupa Group at the end of December and will join the Audit and Nomination Committees when she joins the M&S Board.

About Evelyn Bourke

Evelyn has led transformative change during her near 5-year tenure as CEO of Bupa. Resetting the organisation and strategy to put the customer at its heart, investing in people and technology and strengthening the business. She also has extensive experience in financial services, risk and capital management and mergers and acquisitions; having spent three and a half years as Bupa’s CFO and in leadership roles at the Bank of Ireland, Standard Life and Friends Provident.

Evelyn Bourke will continue to serve as a Non-Executive Director of London First and the Bank of Ireland Group PLC, and as a member of the Bank’s Audit and Nomination and Governance Committees.

Additionally, Evelyn was a director of IFG Group plc from August 2011 to August 2016 where she served as the Chair to the Risk Committee and was a member of the Audit Committee.
