Jupiter Fund Management announces Maarten Slendebroek as upcoming Group CEO

– UK, London – Jupiter Fund Management plc announces that Maarten Slendebroek will succeed Edward Bonham Carter as Group Chief Executive with effect from 17 March 2014. At the same time Edward Bonham Carter will remain on the Board and take on a new executive role as Vice Chairman, reporting to Maarten Slendebroek.

Jamie Dundas, Chairman, said: “Maarten takes over from Edward with Jupiter in excellent shape, with strong investment performance, record assets under management and a robust balance sheet. Maarten has made a significant contribution since he joined the Company as Distribution and Strategy Director and his appointment as Group Chief Executive is a natural evolution of Jupiter’s executive team. I am also delighted that Edward, who has achieved so much for Jupiter, will stay with us in a new executive role focusing on engaging with key stakeholders – an increasingly important requirement as we grow.”

About Maarten Slendebroek

Maarten Slendebroek joined Jupiter in September 2012 as Distribution and Strategy Director from BlackRock where he was head of the international retail business and before that head of BlackRock Solutions EMEA. He was a member of BlackRock’s Global Operating Committee and European Executive Committee. Before 1994 Maarten worked as an investment analyst at Enskilda Securities, Morgan Grenfell and Wesselius. Maarten has dual Dutch / Swedish nationality and earned a law degree from Leiden University in the Netherlands in 1987.

About Edward Bonham Carter

Edward Bonham Carter joined Jupiter in 1994 as a fund manager after spending his early career as Schroders and the Electra Investment Trust. He became Chief Investment Officer of Jupiter in 1999 and Joint Chief Executive in 2000. He became Group Chief Executive in 2007 and led the Company through its management buyout that year, as well as its subsequent IPO in June 2010. Edward will step down from Jupiter’s Executive Committee from its AGM on 21 May 2014.
