– UK, Watford – JD Wetherspoon plc (LON: JDW) today announced the intention to appoint Ben Thorne to its Board as a non-executive director effective from 17 December 2020. On appointment, he will also join the audit, remuneration and nomination committees of the board.
“Subject to the approval of shareholders at the AGM, I look forward to the appointment of Ben to the board in December and to his contribution going forward from then”. said Board chairman, Tim Martin.
About Ben Thorne
Ben Thorne qualified as a solicitor in 1985 specialising in corporate law. He subsequently moved into investment banking in 1987 and has over 30 years’ experience advising corporates, including, whilst at Kleinwort Benson, JD Wetherspoon on a range of capital markets and corporate finance issues. He has subsequently held senior advisory roles at GCA Altium and Panmure Gordon. He is currently a Managing Director at WH Ireland.
