Interserve announces Nick Salmon and Russell King to Board as upcoming Non-Executive Directors

– UK – Interserve Plc, the international support services and construction group, announces the following changes in Board membership and composition.

Following these appointments, David Thorpe will retire from the Board on 31 August in order to be able to devote more time to his expanding portfolio of private equity roles. David has served five and a half years as a director of Interserve, including three years as chair of the remuneration committee.   David is succeeded as remuneration committee chairman, with immediate effect, by Keith Ludeman.

Nick is the Senior Independent Director and a member of the audit, nomination, remuneration and corporate responsibility committees of United Utilities Group PLC and served as Senior Independent Director at Asia Resource Minerals plc between January and June 2014. He was chief executive of Cookson Group plc from 2004 until the end of 2012 and prior to that an Executive Vice-President of Alstom SA and chief executive of Babcock International Group plc.

Russell is the Senior Independent Director and remuneration committee chairman of Aggreko plc; a non-executive director and remuneration committee chair of Spectris plc and until June 2014 was Chairman of GeoProMining Ltd. Between 2007 and late 2009 he was a non-executive director of Anglo Platinum Limited and of Bergteamet AB between 2011 and 2112. Russell held various general management roles at ICI plc, followed by eight years at Anglo American plc as Executive Vice President of Group Human Resources and Business Development and from 2009 as Chief Strategy Officer.

Commenting on these changes, Lord Blackwell, Chairman, said: “I am delighted that Nick Salmon and Russell King will be joining the Interserve Board. They will both bring valuable perspectives on the continued development of the company from their extensive Non-Executive Director as well as Executive experience in a wide range of industry sectors and international markets. At the same time I would like to pay tribute to the major contribution that David Thorpe has played in the evolution of the company over the last five and a half years. We will miss him, but wish him well in the continued development of his other interests.”
