CleanTech companies attract Top CEO Talent

According to the high-end executive search firm, Clark Langdon Partners, the CleanTech industry has been able to attract some of the best CEO talent and executive leadership across multiple industries.

Clark Langdon Partners recently completed a study of the top Clean Tech companies to identify and measure the caliber and backgrounds of their CEOs.

According to the study, 22% of the CEOs came from Large Global Multinational companies; 25% came from existing CEO or Presidential positions, and 66% were first-time CEOs.

Simon Clark, CEO and founder of Clark Langdon Partners said “It is rare that a new industry can successfully hire such strong leadership talent. With capital available, the rarest commodity is people, especially CEOs”.

The study indicates that the CEOs came from a broad spectrum of disciplines:

  • 24% from operating roles;
  • 25% from marketing/sales leadership;
  • 16% from technology roles.

Of the 32 companies in the study, six CEOs were founders; one was a founder’s son, and one was from academia.
