– UK, London – Braemar Shipping Services PLC (LON: BMS), a leading international Shipbroker and provider of expert advice in shipping investment, chartering and risk management, today announced the appointment of Nigel Payne to its Board of Directors as Non-Executive Chairman, effective from 1st May 2021, succeeding Ron Series, who decided to step down as Chairman and from the Board on 30 April 2021.

He is joining Braemar at an exciting time in the development of the Group, and I look forward to working with him as we deliver on our new growth strategy centred on Shipbroking. I would also like to thank Ron for his contribution to Braemar over the last two years and wish him well for the future.” said group CEO, James Gundy.
Nigel will also chair the Nomination Committee.
Ron Series added: “With the progress that has been made on refocussing Braemar’s strategy on its shipbroking heritage, and in positioning the Group to enable it to grow and build on this strong base, I believe that this is an appropriate time for me to step down. I am pleased to welcome Nigel to his new role, and to wish him and James and the Board well as they take the Company forward.”

Nigel Payne has a wealth of experience in leading publicly listed companies, both as Chairman and CEO. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Gateley Plc and a Non-Executive Director of GetBusy Plc and was the CEO of Sportingbet Plc from 2000 to 2006.
