– MALAYSIA, Kuala Lumpur – BiON PLC (LON: BION), one of Malaysia’s most established environmental engineering and renewable energy solutions providers, today announced the appointment of Syed Nazim bin Syed Faisal as CEO effective immediately. Concurrent with the new CEO appointment, Fakrizzaki Ghazali is joining as CFO while Halian Fadzli Shah is appointed as Chief Administrative Officer.

About Syed Nazim bin Syed Faisal
Syed Nazim joined the Company as Finance Director and an Executive Director on 25 September 2018 and assumed the role of acting CEO on 31 January 2020 following the departure of his predecessor. Alongside his commitments to the Company, Syed Nazim was the Group CFO of Serba Dinamik Group, an international energy services group and a controlling shareholder of the Company. Earlier this month, Syed Nazim stepped down from his position as Group CFO of Serba to enable him to dedicate his time to being CEO of BiON. Syed Nazim remains an Executive Director of Serba.
About Fakrizzaki Ghazali
Mr Fakrizzaki Ghazali, who brings over 17 years’ capital markets experience with a focus on investment advisory, fund management and credit analytics, has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Following the departure of the previous CFO at the end of October 2019, this role had been performed by Syed Nazim, with support from the Company’s Financial Controller. Before joining BiON, Fakrizzaki’s positions have included Head of Fixed Income at SEDCO Capital, a global asset management firm providing Shariah-compliant investment opportunities primarily in Saudi Arabia; Credit Strategist at RHB Investment Bank, the largest investment bank in Malaysia by assets; as well as roles at CIMB Private Bank and Malayan Banking Berhad’s asset management arm.
Fakrizzaki, who is a certified public accountant of Malaysia, is not being appointed to the Board of Directors at this time.
About Halian Fadzli Shah
Mr Halian Fadzli Shah has been appointed as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Company, with responsibility for managing day-to-day operations including sales, marketing and human resources. Halian previously spent over 10 years as Legal Counsel at PETRONAS, a Malaysian oil and gas company that is one of the largest corporations in the world. During this time, he advised on various activities such as dispute resolution, procurement, upstream and downstream operations, including acting as Head of Legal for PETRONAS’ Vietnamese subsidiary in Ho Chi Minh City. Halian also served in the office of the former Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia as a Special Functions Officer.
Halian, a qualified lawyer who holds a Master of Philosophy in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Urban Development from the University of Oxford, is not being appointed to the Board of Directors at this time.
