– USA, NY – Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) today announced that its independent Board members unanimously selected Lionel Nowell as the next Lead Independent Director succeeding Jack Bovender upon his retirement from the Board at the annual meeting of shareholders in April 2021.

Jack Bovender has been an independent director at Bank of America since January 2013, and lead independent director since October 2014. Prior to that, he served as chairman and CEO of HCA Inc., the largest investor-owned hospital system. He began his career in hospital administration in the U.S. Navy.

Nowell has been an independent director at Bank of America since January 2013 and serves on the boards of directors of Ecolab Inc. and Textron Inc. Previously he served as senior vice president and treasurer of PepsiCo Inc., and as chief financial officer of The Pepsi Bottling Group.
