With over 35 years of experience, including key roles at Vodafone and Ericsson, Johan Wibergh brings deep expertise in telecommunications, network operations, digital transformation, and cybersecurity.
As Founder, Chairman, and CEO Abel Avellan expressed, his extensive background in managing large-scale networks and driving innovation will be crucial as AST SpaceMobile advances towards commercializing its space-based cellular broadband network. Wibergh retired from his position as Group Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone in 2022 and previously served as EVP & Head of Business Unit Networks at Ericsson.
In addition to joining the Board, Johan Wibergh will chair AST SpaceMobile’s new Network Planning and Spectrum Committee, overseeing strategic network planning for the AST constellation. His appointment underscores AST SpaceMobile’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology to enhance global mobile broadband connectivity, aiming to address connectivity gaps and bridge the digital divide worldwide.
