– UK, London – Ashmore Group plc (LON: ASHM), today announced the appointment of Thuy Dam to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director effective from 1 June 2023, bringing a thorough understanding of the complexity of emerging markets, in particular in Asia.
About Thuy Dam
Thuy Dam is currently the President of the Fulbright University Vietnam and a Non-executive Director of Thien Minh Group Limited. From 2014 to 2023 she was a Non-executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee of VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund Ltd.
Thuy began her career as an entrepreneur, co-founding Vietnam’s first private foreign investment consultancy firm. She then joined Australia and New Zealand Bank, helping to set up ANZ’s investment banking business in Asia and becoming the first Vietnamese citizen to lead an international bank in Vietnam. Thuy was ANZ’s Vice Chairwoman for the Greater Mekong Region before joining the National Australia Bank as its Chief Representative in Vietnam.
Thuy holds a BA in English from the University of Hanoi and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
