Pr Elroy Dimson appointed chair of FTSE Policy Group

UK – FTSE Group (“FTSE”), the global index provider, is pleased to announce that Professor Elroy Dimson has accepted the position of Chairman of the FTSE Policy Group.

Professor Dimson, who was involved in setting up FTSE’s first indices in 1984, replaces David Hobbs who has chaired the Policy Group since March 2010. David will continue to advise FTSE as a consultant.

Elroy Dimson is Emeritus Professor at London Business School, Fellow and Visiting Professor at Cambridge Judge Business School, and Chairman of the Strategy Council for the Norwegian Government Pension Fund. He sits on the investment committees of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, UnLtd (the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs), and the University of London endowment.

He is also Director and Past-President of the European Finance Association and a member of the advisory board of the CFA Institute.

Mark Makepeace, Chief Executive Officer of FTSE, said: “I am personally delighted that Professor Dimson has agreed to take this senior position within the FTSE Committee structure. His extensive experience and knowledge of investment management issues will help FTSE to continue to develop its strong governance and innovative approach to indexing. We are also very lucky to have had David Hobbs to lead FTSE’s Policy Group for the past three years and hope that he will continue to advise us going forward. I would like to thank David for his contributions over the past three years.”
