Granular appoints Dave Kellogg to the Board of Directors

– USA, CA – Granular, a leading agriculture software and analytics company, announced today that Dave Kellogg, CEO of Host Analytics, has been elected to join Granular’s board of directors. Kellogg will serve as an advisor to the company and share his insight into building scalable cloud and analytics software systems as Granular continues to build on its success in the agriculture software market.

“Dave has built and lead successful SaaS businesses through many stages of their market development,” said Sid Gorham, Granular Co-Founder and CEO. “He will be a highly valuable advisor to me and the team as we grow Granular into the global leader in agriculture software and analytics.”

Prior to joining Host Analytics, Kellogg served as SVP and general manager at Salesforce.com, overseeing Service Cloud, the company’s market leading customer service applications. As CEO of MarkLogic, he grew the company from its beginning to an $80 million run-rate in just six years. Before MarkLogic, Kellogg led marketing at Business Objects for almost 10 years, during which time the company grew from 250 to more than 4,500 employees and more than $1 billion in revenue. A recognized thought leader on topics like big data, cloud and analytics, Kellogg is also a highly regarded blogger at Kellblog.

“I was drawn to the vision of Granular and Sid’s background and leadership. The investors behind the company are world class, and we have the opportunity to do something that will help farmers feed the world more efficiently,” said Kellogg. “The combination of cloud and mobile is powerful; cloud means the software becomes accessible to those who couldn’t practically use it otherwise, and mobile is critical for farms whose assets and operations are inherently distributed. This is a huge opportunity, bringing software to new markets.”

Kellogg adds Granular to his long history of advising companies. Prior to Granular, Kellogg sat on the board of Aster Data (until it was successfully acquired by Teradata) and has advised numerous companies, including MongoDB, GainSight and Tableau. He holds bachelor’s degrees in geophysics and applied mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley.
