Daily Internet appoints Chris Evans as Non-Executive Director

– UK – Daily Internet plc (AIM: DAIP), the hosting and cloud infrastructure provider, announces that it has appointed Christopher (“Chris”) Evans as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

Between April 2011 and November 2013, Mr Evans was with iomart Group plc (“iomart”) where he was a director of the Easyspace division, a leading UK domain name and web hosting company, and reported directly to the iomart Board of Directors. He joined iomart following its acquisition of Switch Media Limited, a web hosting solutions business of which he was the founder and Managing Director.  Switch Media Limited was listed in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008.

Whilst with iomart Mr Evans was responsible for the technical and commercial aspects of integrating various hosting brands acquired by iomart, and during his tenure he delivered revenue and profitability ahead of budgets. Chris has over 14 years’ experience in the web hosting industry and studied Software Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University.

Mr Evans is also currently Technical Director of Tokyo Digital Limited, a digital agency, where his focus is on the web hosting requirements of the business.  In addition, Mr Evans is a partner at SC Capital Partners LLP, an angel investment business focused on the technology sector.

Mr Evans will be active in driving forward Daily Internet’s acquisition and integration programmes.

Abby Hardoon, Managing Director of Daily Internet plc, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Chris to Daily Internet. With his considerable experience and extensive network, the Board is confident that he will be a valuable contributor toward realising our vision of becoming one of the leading European hosting solutions providers.

“We are experiencing good growth in demand for our hosting products, and especially our managed VMware cloud and managed Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions.  There has been further streamlining of operations and rationalisation of costs by the Group following the pivotal acquisition of Netplan, and these are now largely complete.  The Daily Internet hosting brand continues to show steady growth and provides a good platform from which to support the considerable growth opportunities at Netplan, which offers much greater contract sizes and higher margins.  Netplan has a strong pipeline of new business opportunities, has recently won a new initial contract with a tech services company, and is in discussions to grow other existing contracts.

“Chris’s commercial and technical expertise will be invaluable to the Group as we continue to execute our buy and build strategy and search for additional acquisitions.”

Chris Evans, Non-Executive Director of Daily Internet plc, commented: “I am very pleased to be joining the Board of Daily Internet, especially following the recent pivotal acquisition of Netplan Internet Solutions. I’m confident that my experience will assist in helping Daily Internet to achieve and expedite its vision.”
