– UK, Wickford – Conviviality Retail Plc (AIM: CVR), one of the UK’s largest franchised off-licence and convenience store brands trading primarily under the Bargain Booze fascia, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Jones to the Board as a Non-Executive Director, with immediate effect.

Ian Martin Woodfine Jones, aged 58, brings extensive operational experience to the Board with having spent over 30 years in the retail industry. Ian was previously at Homebase Ltd where he was Retail Director for nine years. During this period, Ian was also Distribution and Supply Chain Director for five years. Ian took a central role in repositioning Homebase into a home enhancement retailer and was responsible for 340 stores and 18,000 retail personnel.

Prior to this, Ian served on the Operating Board of J Sainsbury plc and was Formats Director from 2001 to 2003 where he was responsible for the Store Reinvigoration Programme and all associated investment. Ian is currently a member of the Marie Curie Retail Committee.

Ian will chair Conviviality’s Remuneration Committee.

David Adams, Chairman of Conviviality, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to our Board as Non-Executive Director. Ian has been involved with Conviviality since 2013, advising the Board on supply chain and operational matters, specifically the reconfiguration of the Crewe distribution centre and the decision to bring our transport function in house, therefore already has in depth knowledge of our business and operations. His wider knowledge of the UK retail sector and invaluable past experience will make him a true asset to our Board as we continue to grow our brands across the UK.”
