Aberdeen Standard Equity Income Trust appoints Sarika Patel to its Board as Independent Director

– UK, London –  Aberdeen Standard Equity Income Trust PLC (LON: ASEI) today announced the appointment of Sarika Patel as an independent non-executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.

Sarika Patel will stand for election as a Director at the Annual General Meeting to be held on or around 23 January 2020.

As previously announced, Jo Dixon will stand down from the Board, and as Chair of the Audit Committee, following the Annual General Meeting to be held on or around 23 January 2020. It is intended that Ms Patel succeed Ms Dixon as Chair of the Audit Committee at that time.

Richard Burns, Chairman of the Company, said: “The Directors are delighted to appoint Sarika to the Board. Sarika is a business leader with nearly 30 years’ experience in a mixture of public and private organisations. She is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Marketer. Previously a partner at Zeus Capital, Sarika has been on a host of public and private sector boards. She is currently Chair of Action for Children, one of the UK’s leading charities for children, a Board Member of the Office for Nuclear Regulation where she chairs the Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee, and is a Commissioner and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at the Gambling Commission.”
