Vuzix appoints Edward Kay to the Board of Directors

– USA, NY – Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), a leading supplier of video eyewear and smart glasses products in the consumer, enterprise and entertainment markets, is pleased to announce that Edward W Kay, Jr. has joined its board of directors.

Mr. Edward W Kay, Jr., is a Certified Public Accountant who spent his 33-year career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP working with companies in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, software and technology. During his tenure with PwC, he served in many capacities, including among others in the Accounting and SEC Services practice section of the Firm’s National Office in New York City, as leader of the firm’s technology practice in Dallas, Texas, as Managing Partner of the upstate New York practice, and, most recently, as Managing Partner, Rochester, New York Office from 1999-2012. He first joined PwC in 1979, and retired in June 2012. Mr. Kay earned a B.S. in Accounting from Duke University, and an M.B.A. in Finance from Northwestern University. Mr. Kay’s community involvement includes service as the Treasurer for the 2013 PGA Tournament at Oak Hill Country Club, Rochester, New York; President of Oak Hill Country Club, Rochester, New York from 2010-2012; Board Chair and former Treasurer of St. Bernard’s School of Theology, Rochester, New York; Audit Committee Chair, Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, Rochester, New York; and Audit Committee Chair and Finance Committee member, Greater Rochester YMCA, Rochester, New York. Mr. Kay was formerly on the Board, Executive Committee member, and Audit Committee Chair of IEC Electronics from 2013 to 2015, and is currently on the board of a $1 billon private company in the product distribution business. During Mr. Kay’s tenure at PwC and through his service on other corporate boards, he accumulated extensive experience in financial, securities, and business matters, including significant leadership roles in dealing with accounting and auditing matters related to public companies, which enable Mr. Kay to be a valuable contributor to our board.

Finally, Mr. William Lee one of Vuzix Corporations 2015 Board of Directors members passed away in March 2016. Willie’s contribution to the Vuzix Board of Directors has been exemplary and he will be missed. Mr. Kay will be taking over Willie’s responsibilities on the Board including the role of Chairman of the Audit Committee.
