United Utilities Group announces Stephen Carter to the Board as Non-Executive Director

– UK – United Utilities Group PLC announces the appointment of Stephen A. Carter CBE (Lord Carter) as a non-executive director with effect from 1 September 2014.

On appointment Stephen will become a member of the Audit, Nomination and Corporate Responsibility Committees.

Stephen is the Group Chief Executive at Informa plc, having previously served on the board as an independent non-executive director and member of the Audit Committee. Before taking up his current post, he was President/Managing Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa and a member of the Executive Management Board at Alcatel Lucent Inc. Prior to that he held a number of Private and Public Sector roles, serving a term as the founding Chief Executive of Ofcom (The Telecommunications and Media Regulator).

United Utilities’ Chairman, Dr John McAdam said: “As a current Chief Executive of a FTSE 250 company and with his background in government and regulation, Stephen’s appointment will strengthen the Board’s expertise; we are delighted to welcome him to the Board as a non-executive director.”

Stephen will also be appointed as a non-executive director of United Utilities Water PLC with effect from 1 September 2014.
