MINNEAPOLIS – The Medical Device Innovation Consortium, a public-private partnership between the FDA and the medical device industry created and incubated by LifeScience Alley, announced that William V. Murray has been selected to serve as president and CEO. Mr. Murray succeeds interim Executive Director Dale Wahlstrom, who will return to his full time role as the president and CEO of LifeScience Alley (LSA) and The BioBusiness Alliance of MN (BBAM). Mr. Wahlstrom will remain as a member of the MDIC Board of Directors.
The hiring of Mr. Murray builds on a multi-step process to establish the MDIC as an independent organization committed to improving patient health and the overall efficiency of the medical device industry through the application of regulatory science. While the MDIC plans to remain headquartered in Minnesota, it will maintain a national focus, working with representatives of FDA and the nation’s medical device industry on board-approved projects.

In accepting the position of president & CEO, Mr. Murray said, “I am excited by the opportunity to lead MDIC. Mr. Murray has over 25 years of executive leadership experience within the medical device industry. Most recently, he was CEO of Envoy Medical, Inc. Prior to Envoy he held executive business and engineering leadership positions. Murray began his career with Medtronic designing pacemakers before running the division 12 years later. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In his new role Murray will provide leadership to the MDIC focused on executing on projects approved by the board. He will be responsible for helping the board raise funds for MDIC to support the project work necessary to improve the process for bringing innovation to the benefit of patients.
