Sage Group announces Dr John Bates to its Board as Non-Executive Director

– UK, Newcastle upon Tyne – The Sage Group plc. (LON: SGE) today announced the appointment of John Bates to its Board as a non-executive director with effect from 31 May 2019.

Sir Donald Brydon, the Chairman, said: “I am delighted that John is joining the Sage Board. He has deep experience in the field of technology innovation, including the use of AI and Machine Learning functionality to improve the customer experience. Dr Bates is a visionary technologist and highly accomplished business leader. He is currently CEO of Eggplant, which specialises in AI-powered software test automation. He pioneered the space of streaming analytics as Co-founder, President and CTO of Apama. He drove the evolution of platforms for digital business while serving as Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and CTO at NASDAQ-listed Progress Software and as CTO of Big Data, Head of Industry Solutions and CMO at Frankfurt-listed Software AG. As CEO at Plat. One he drove the commercial development of platforms to support the internet of things applications. John holds a doctorate in computer science from Cambridge University and is the author of the book “Thingalytics: Smart Big Data Analytics for the Internet of Things.”
