Quilter appoints Paul Matthews and Dr Suresh Kana to its Board as Independent Directors

– UK, London – Quilter plc (LSE:39FT), announces that Paul Matthews and Dr. Suresh Kana have been appointed as independent non-executive Directors of the Company, effective from 8 August 2018. Paul has also been appointed as a non-executive director of Intrinsic Financial Services Limited, a subsidiary of the Company, with effect from the same date. Intrinsic, which forms part of the Advice and Wealth Management segment and will become Quilter Financial Planning, focuses on advice-led distribution in the UK.

Paul is a highly experienced FTSE 100 plc board director who has an in-depth knowledge of the savings and pensions industry, having worked in that industry for over four decades. Until he retired from full-time executive roles, Paul worked at Standard Life undertaking various roles between 1989 and 2017, including as a Group Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer UK & Europe and Chairman of Standard Life Wealth. Paul has been a member of the FCA Practitioner Panel, a Board Member of the Association of British Insurers and a Member of the Faculty of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Paul is currently an Executive Mentor at Merryck & Co.

Suresh is a highly experienced, South African businessman who has spent over three decades working in various roles at PwC, most recently as Chief Executive Officer and Territory Senior Partner of PwC Africa. He has a wealth of South African business, public company and corporate governance experience. Suresh is currently Chairman of Imperial Holdings Limited and of Murray & Robert Holdings Limited, both listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (‘JSE’). He is also an independent non-executive director of JSE Limited and a member of its Audit, Risk and SRO Committees, Chairman of the Financial Reporting Standards Council (the Statutory body in South Africa setting Accounting Standards), and a Member of the Illovo Sugar Limited Advisory Panel. In addition, he is Deputy Chair of the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa.
