Pets At Home appoints Karen Whitworth to its Board as Independent Director

– UK, Handforth –  Pets at Home Group Plc (LON: PETS), the UK’s leading Pet Care Business, today announced the appointment of Karen Whitworth as Independent Non-Executive Director on 9 July 2020. Karen will succeed Sharon Flood as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.

On appointment, Karen will become Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. She will also be a member of the Nominations and Corporate Governance Committee.

This announcement followed the decision of Paul Moody to step down from the Board yesterday, and the commencement of Sharon Flood’s new role as Chair of the Remuneration Committee, as announced on 26 March 2020.

About Karen Whitworth

Karen qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand and has 18 years’ experience operating at board level in a variety of commercial, operational and governance roles across several private and publicly listed organisations. More recently, Karen spent 10 years at J Sainsbury plc, the last three of which as a Member of the Commercial Board and Director of Non-Food Grocery and New Business, and prior to that as Supply Chain Director and Director of Group Internal Audit. Until 2018, she was a Supervisory Board member and member of the Audit Committee at GS1 UK Limited.

Karen is currently a Non-Executive Director of Tritax Big Box REIT plc and a non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee at The Rank Group plc.
