National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) welcomes Dan Gallagher to its Board of Directors

– USA, VA –  National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the authority on boardroom practices representing more than 20,000 board members, today announced that Dan Gallagher, a former commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission with extensive experience in regulatory manners, financial markets, and corporate legal affairs and governance, has joined NACD’s board.

“Dan brings a wealth of knowledge on regulatory and governance issues from his distinguished career in the public and private sectors,” said NACD president and CEO Peter Gleason. “He is a welcome addition to the NACD board.”

In September, Gallagher will join the international law firm WilmerHale as partner and deputy chair of the securities department, where he will advise corporate boards and management on legal and strategic issues.

About Dan Gallagher

From 2017 to April 2019, Gallagher was the chief legal officer at Mylan NV, a leading global pharmaceutical company. Prior to joining Mylan in 2017, Gallagher was president of Patomak Global Partners, a financial services consulting firm.

Gallagher served as an SEC commissioner from 2011 to 2015. During his term, he championed reforms on corporate governance issues, advocated for conducting a comprehensive holistic review of equity-market structure issues, and encouraged building the SEC’s fixed-income market expertise. Before being appointed commissioner, Gallagher had served on the SEC staff in several other capacities, including as counsel to both Commissioner Paul Atkins and Chair Christopher Cox, working on matters involving the Division of Enforcement and the Division of Trading and Markets. Gallagher was deputy director and co-acting director of the Division of Trading and Markets from 2008 to 2010, where he was on the front lines of the agency’s response to the financial crisis, including representing the SEC in the Lehman Brothers liquidation.

“I’m honored to add my perspective as a steward of corporate governance reforms to the NACD board and hope to be a valuable contributor from day one,” said Gallagher.

He is a member of the advisory boards of both the Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and the Center for Corporate Governance, Raj & Kamla Gupta Governance Institute, LeBow College of Business, Drexel University.

In 2014, Gallagher was named to the NACD Directorship 100, NACD’s list of the most influential people in the boardroom community.
