mporium Group appoints Nelius De Groot to the Board as CEO alongside Barry Moat as Executive Chairman

– UK, London – mporium Group plc (AIM:MPM), the technology company that delivers high performance advertising campaigns, is pleased to announce a number of changes to the Board as the company continues to win new business for its IMPACT product.

After nearly two intensive years as Chairman throughout the Group’s crucial foundation phase, Nigel Walder is leaving the Board. Chief Executive Officer Barry Moat is taking the role of Executive Chairman, while Nelius De Groot is joining the Board as Chief Executive Officer after two years as Chief Operating Officer. All of these changes take place with immediate effect.

Richard Gordon, who provided essential continuity as Finance Director while mporium was established within the listing of a predecessor company, will be leaving at the end of September, to focus on other business interests. Succession planning is already underway.

Nelius has brought mporium the benefit of a deep technology background and 25 years of experience in Financial Services. This experience has been critical to the development of the IMPACT product, which uses event-driven technology and real-time execution to deliver advertising campaign performance.

After starting his career as a software developer at Logica plc, Nelius moved to Barclays de Zoete Wedd, then Swiss Bank Corporation and in 1997 to Deutsche Bank. During almost 18 years at Deutsche Bank, Nelius held a wide range of senior management positions in both the Global Markets and Transaction Banking businesses in London and New York. His final role prior to joining mporium was as Deutsche Bank’s Interim Chief Information Officer for Corporate Banking & Securities (CB&S) and co-Head of Global Technology & Operations, CB&S. He holds a BSc (Hons.) in Computer Science from University College Dublin.

Nigel Walder, outgoing Chairman of mporium, commented: “I am proud of what has been achieved during my time as Chairman of mporium. Management has applied real effort to transform the business over the past two years and I leave as it is starting to show strong momentum in signing partnerships with agencies to share the benefits of IMPACT with their clients. This validates Barry’s vision for the business and I pass the Chairmanship to him with great confidence in mporium’s future.”

Barry Moat, incoming Chairman of mporium, commented: “On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Nigel for his dedication since he took the chair in September 2015. His technology experience and excellent judgement have been fundamental to the rapid establishment of mporium as a tech leader. He will be greatly missed but his contribution will have a lasting effect, for which I am personally enormously grateful.

“I would also like personally to thank Richard for all his support as FD. He has provided the business with important continuity as we have transformed mporium, and we wish him every success in his future endeavours.

“I am delighted that one of my first acts as Chairman is to be able to congratulate Nelius on becoming CEO. This is the natural evolution of his success as COO, from determining our technology choices and setting a strategic plan for our development to achieving impressive results in communicating to agencies the transformative difference IMPACT can have on campaigns. I look forward to his leadership of the business as CEO.”

Nelius De Groot, CEO of mporium, commented: “I’m honoured to be given this opportunity to take mporium forward after two years of working with the management team to develop and implement our strategic focus. The agency agreements that we have achieved are just the beginning and I look forward to additional wins over the coming months.”
