mParticle adds Ted Maidenberg to its Board along with raising $15m Series A funding led by Social Capital

– USA, NY –  mParticle, the only customer data platform built for mobile, today announced $15 million in Series A investment, led by Social Capital with participation from existing investors Bowery Capital, Eniac Ventures, Golden Ventures, and others. With the new investment, mParticle will open a San Francisco office and accelerate product development to support data capture across all connected devices. Ted Maidenberg led the investment for Social Capital and has joined the board of directors.

“Our vision since inception has been to make it much easier for marketing and analytics teams to connect with the ecosystem of services offering innovative mobile solutions,” said Michael Katz, CEO and co-founder of mParticle. “This new investment will help us accelerate product and marketplace development considerably and we couldn’t be more excited to work with Social Capital.”

mParticle serves large brands such as Spotify, SeatGeek, Starwood, SoulCycle, iHeartRadio, among many others. Each month, mParticle sees over 750 million mobile users on its platform, captures over $2 billion in e-commerce transactions, and processes over 65 billion API calls. Over the past 12 months, the company has more than tripled its integrations with leading marketing and analytics platforms, and now offers more than 75 integrations with services such as Amazon Redshift, Amplitude, Appboy, Kahuna, Kochava, SendGrid, and others to help marketers drive growth, lower costs, and cure SDK fatigue.

“mParticle has become a valuable Starwood partner, accelerating marketing and analytics integrations,” said Alyssa Waxenberg, Vice President of Mobile, Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “Their customer data platform has helped us to create a sophisticated mobile data collection and management strategy, making it easier for our teams to connect with partners to drive growth for our SPG app.”

“mParticle is poised to become one of the most powerful and essential tools for marketers,” said Ted Maidenberg, co-founder and partner at Social Capital. “We’re excited to continue working with this proven founding team as they build a foundational platform to revolutionize how businesses collect and connect data.”

Founded in 2013, mParticle simplifies the process of collecting and integrating data into leading analytics, marketing, and data warehouse platforms. Using mParticle eliminates the risk and complexity usually required to integrate and support multiple partners allowing teams to dramatically reduce the amount of engineering time spent adding and maintaining partner code, and increase the speed that marketing and analytics teams can access their data and add new partners.

Last month, mParticle announced the next generation of its customer data platform, which includes open source SDKs, full web support via its Javascript SDK, and several new APIs including its Firehose API, allowing marketing and analytics platforms to integrate directly into mParticle. Today, the company is also announcing it has launched full support for Apple TV with its tvOS SDK.
