miDrive appoints Alastair Peoples to its Board as Non-Executive Director

– UK, London – miDrive, a popular UK learning to drive app, today announces that Alastair Peoples has joined its board as a Non-Executive Director. Peoples was previously Chief Executive of both the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), before the two agencies merged to form the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in April 2014.

Alastair Peoples comments: “I believe miDrive parallels the road safety objectives that were set with the DVSA, by increasing driving standards, providing customers with more choice of Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) and improving pass rates without reducing the quality of driving. By offering a way to link driving lessons with practice at home, miDrive is helping learners learn to drive, rather than to simply pass the test. The innovative use of technology, for both ADIs and learners, makes it easier for the whole learning experience to be shared.”

Scott Taylor, CEO of miDrive, says, “Alastair’s experience of leading the DVSA will be invaluable as miDrive continues to grow and we are looking forward to capitalising on his knowledge as we continue our campaign to heighten the value of Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) to learner drivers.”

Peoples had a long and distinguished career in the Civil Service – initially joining the VOSA as Operations Director in 2004, after moving to the UK from Northern Ireland, where he spent time as a vehicle and driving examiner. He also held the position of Operations Director at what is now the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) within the Department of Environment, Northern Ireland.
