UK – The Board of Mecom Group plc (“Mecom” or the “Group”) today announces the appointment of Rory Macnamara as Non-executive Chairman following the Annual General Meeting of Mecom on 22nd May 2013 (“AGM”).
Rory Macnamara qualified as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and worked at Morgan Grenfell for 17 years where he was a Director in Corporate Finance, Head of Mergers and Acquisitions and Vice-Chairman of Morgan Grenfell & Co Ltd. In 1999, he joined Lehman Brothers, where he was a managing director in UK investment banking until 2001. He is currently Chairman of Dunedin Income Growth Investment Trust PLC and Essenden PLC and a director of Mears Group PLC, Augean Plc and Dragon-Ukrainian Properties & Development plc.
Rory Macnamara’s appointment will enable Stephen Davidson, currently Executive Chairman, to become Chief Executive of the Group and to focus on maintaining the underlying value of Mecom’s businesses as the Group continues its modernisation and cost-reduction plans.
Gerry Aherne has also informed the Board of his intention to retire as a Non-executive Director following the AGM and the Group has begun the process for finding his replacement.
