Kiewit announces COO Rick Lanoha as CEO alongside Bruce Grewcock remaining Chairman of the Board of Directors

– USA, NE –  Kiewit Corporation, one of North America’s largest and most respected construction and engineering companies, today announced that effective Jan. 1, 2020, Rick Lanoha, president and COO, will assume the role of president and CEO by succeeding Bruce Grewcock, who will remain as chairman of the board of directors, a role he has held since 2013.

This is part of Kiewit’s ongoing leadership transition plan, which follows the company’s legacy of seamless, strategic transitions of executive leadership. During the company’s long, storied history, Lanoha will be the sixth executive to lead the company.

Since joining Kiewit in 1986, Lanoha, 52, has held several key leadership roles of increasing responsibility, including executive vice president of Kiewit Industrial Group, with responsibilities for the Kiewit Energy, Cherne, Contracting Corporation, Kiewit Power and The Industrial Company (TIC) divisions. He became president of Kiewit Energy Group in 2012, overseeing its two divisions — Kiewit Oil, Gas & Chemical and Kiewit Power — and was promoted to his current role in 2016. Rick was elected to Kiewit’s board of directors in 2009.

“The Kiewit organization and leadership team are as strong as they have ever been. Rick has done an outstanding job as president and COO and is fully prepared to take on CEO responsibilities in 2020,” said Grewcock. “He understands all facets of our business and is a strong leader who is well-versed in Kiewit’s culture and history – yet he also brings a fresh, valued perspective that will position the company well for the future.”

“Bruce has been a great leader whose leadership has helped further strengthen Kiewit’s position as North America’s premier construction and engineering company,” said Lanoha. “I am honored to have been named CEO and excited to work with the thousands of talented Kiewit employees who continue to safely deliver the highest-quality projects for our clients and the communities in which we operate.”
