Kier Group announces Kirsty Bashforth to the Board as upcoming Non-Executive Director

– UK – Kier Group plc announces the appointment of Kirsty Bashforth as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 September 2014.

Kirsty has over 20 years’ experience with BP plc (“BP”) and has worked in a variety of roles during this time in both the UK and overseas. An economist by background, Kirsty is a member of BP’s senior management. Her role since 2011 has been Group Head of Organisational Effectiveness, where she has focused on leading BP’s investment in its organisational culture, most recently embedding the company’s values and behaviours into its performance management processes.

Prior to this, Kirsty undertook a number of other roles within BP, including leading a process and capability improvement programme across its global b2b marketing businesses, running its European petrochemicals marketing, supply and logistics business and financial engineering and risk management roles within the trading and treasury functions.

Kirsty will be a member of the Risk Management and Audit Committee, the Remuneration Committee, the Safety, Health and Environment Committee and the Nomination Committee and is considered by the board of directors of the Company to be independent.

Phil White, Chairman of the Company, said: “I am delighted that Kirsty is joining us as a member of the Board. She will bring a breadth of skills and experience from her career at BP which will be important to Kier – for example, in health and safety matters and the continued implementation of business improvement measures throughout the business.
