Janus Capital appointed Tatsusaburo Yamamoto to its Board of Directors

– USA, CO – Janus Capital Group Inc. (NYSE: JNS) today announced that Tatsusaburo Yamamoto has been appointed to its Board of Directors effective July 24, 2015. Mr. Yamamoto’s appointment to the Board is in connection with the strategic alliance JCG and The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, Limited entered into on August 10, 2012, and the resignation of Dai-ichi Life’s previous designee, Seiji Inagaki, from the Board effective July 24, 2015. Mr. Inagaki is assuming additional responsibilities at Dai-ichi Life; therefore he and Dai-ichi Life determined that now is an appropriate time for him to transition off the Board.

Mr. Yamamoto is currently Executive Officer and General Manager, Investment Planning Department, of Dai-ichi Life and has worked in many different capacities for Dai-ichi Life over his 27 year career with the firm, including most recently as General Manager of the Investment Planning Department, and prior to that as Managing Director of Dai-ichi Life International (Asia Pacific) Limited. In connection with the strategic alliance, Mr. Yamamoto has previously worked with JCG management as a member of the strategic alliance coordination committee. The coordination committee seeks to further the goals of the strategic alliance and enhance product distribution opportunities.

“We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Yamamoto to the Board, his extensive experience in the financial services industry and familiarity with the JCG management team make him an excellent addition,” said Glenn Schafer, Chairman of the Janus Capital Group Board of Directors. “We also would like to thank Mr. Inagaki for his strong leadership in building the strategic relationship between Janus and Dai-ichi Life and for serving as a contributing member of our Board for the past two and half years.”
