Girls Who Code adds Jason Spero and Juan Sabater to its Board of Directors

– USA, NY – Girls Who Code, the national nonprofit organization working to close the gender gap in technology, today announced the appointment of Jason Spero and Juan Sabater to the organization’s Board of Directors. Spero is Vice President of Performance & Programmatic at Google, and Sabater is a partner with Valor Equity Partners.

“We’re thrilled to have Jason Spero and Juan Sabater joining our Board,” said founder and CEO Reshma Saujani. “Their expertise and leadership will be invaluable to our organization as we expand our presence and programs, giving girls across the country a chance to solve problems in their day-to-day lives with computing skills.”

Jason Spero has more than 18 years of experience in product, marketing and general management functions in mobile at Google, AdMob, Digital Chocolate and Openwave. In his current role, Spero is the Global Business Lead for Search, Display, Shopping, Analytics and DoubleClick offerings. Prior to that role, he drove strategy and operations for Google’s Mobile offerings on Search, Display, and YouTube. Spero holds a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Juan Sabater is a Partner at Valor Equity Partners, a growth focused private equity firm based in Chicago, and serves as Co-Chairman of the Board of Augeo Affinity Marketing, Inc., which he joined in 2006 to partner with its founder. Prior to Valor, Juan also was a Managing Director in the investment banking division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. He currently serves as President of the Board of The Hewitt School, as well as on the boards of The Frick Collection, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Juan holds an A.B. in History from Princeton University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. He is formerly an officer in the United States Army Reserve.
