Farmers Trust Company announces Board member Jim Smail appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors

– USA, OH – Farmers Trust Company, has named James R. Smail, a current member of Farmers National Banc Corporation (NASDAQ:FMNB), Board of Directors and the Farmers Trust Company Board of Directors, as Chairman of the Farmers Trust Company Board effective January 1, 2017. Mr. Smail has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Farmers Trust Company since July 2015.

Since July 2015, Smail has served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Farmers National Banc Corp. In addition, Smail also serves on the Board Enterprise Risk Management Committee. Mr. Smail utilizes his vast business and entrepreneurial knowledge to provide valuable market insights and played an integral role in the National Bancshares integration process post acquisition.

Smail has an extensive background in the banking, oil and gas and ranching businesses, having served as the Chairman and Director of Monitor Bancorp, Inc. since 1972, Chairman, Director and CEO of J.R. Smail, Inc. since 1975 and Chairman of the Board of Monitor Ranch, Inc. since 1992.

He has also served as a board member of numerous other public and private corporations, various business associations and as a board member of numerous charitable organizations over his 45 year business career.
