– USA, OR – Eid Passport, Inc., a national leader in high-assurance identity management solutions, has added renowned child safety advocate Ernie Allen to the company’s board of directors.
Allen was founder and chairman of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and served as its president and CEO for 23 years. During his tenure the organization grew to $50 million, more than 180,000 missing children were recovered and the recovery rate increased from 62% to 97%. He launched the nation’s first 24-hour missing children hotline, the national CyberTipline for reporting suspected child sexual exploitation, and the Child Victim Identification Program, a central repository of online images and videos designed to aid law enforcement agencies in identifying victims of child pornography.
To extend the effort to protect children globally, in 1998 he founded the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) and served as its president and CEO until 2014. Under his leadership the organization developed a 23-nation Global Missing Children’s Network, trained law enforcement in 121 counties and worked with parliaments in 100 countries to enact new laws to combat child pornography.
He also created and managed a series of public-private partnerships including the Technology Coalition which included nine major Internet and technology companies working together to develop new technologies to address child victimization.
He is a globally recognized leader in the fight against child exploitation and human trafficking, having received numerous awards and accolades including the 2014 Office of the Inspector General’s Public/Private Partnership Award and the 2013 Meritorious Public Service Award from US Attorney General Eric Holder. Allen also was the first male recipient of the Sandra Day O’Connor Voice for Women Award in 2013.
