DEINOVE appoints Jacqueline Lecourtier to its Scientific Advisory Board as new President

– FRANCE, Paris – DEINOVE (Alternext Paris:ALDEI), a technological company that designs, develops and markets a new generation of industrial processes based on Deinococci bacteria, today announced that Jacqueline Lecourtier has agreed to chair and lead the deliberations of their Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which meets twice a year. She will take her new position at the next plenary session of the SAB to be held on 3(rd) and 4(th) December this year.

Jacqueline Lecourtier is an engineer from the École Nationale Supérieure des Industries Chimiques (French Higher National Institute of Chemical Engineering) and a Doctor in Physics from the University of Pierre and Marie Curie, and has devoted 25 years of her career to the IFP (Institut Français du Pétrole, today “IFP Energies nouvelles”, IFPEN: French Institute of Petroleum – New Energies). She was Scientific Director of this organisation from 2006 to 2011, constantly encouraging researchers to be creative and to register patents in the Institute’s very wide range of research fields: organic chemistry, fuel cells, geology, drilling muds, nanotechnologies, catalysts and biotechnology.

Jacqueline Lecourtier took over leadership of the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), from 2006 to 2012, where she worked on making French scientific research more dynamic and raising its profile in the industrial context. The ANR was, in particular, the most active investor in future developments in the selection, financing and follow-up of projects.

Jacqueline Lecourtier was a researcher at the CNRS (Conseil national de la recherche scientifique – French National Research Council) at the beginning of her career, and received international recognition for many research projects that she conducted and directed, including the “Cedric F. Ferguson, Society of Petroleum Engineers” Prize and the “EUROIL Offshore Environmental Award, Offshore North Sea”. She has not just won academic awards, but also been appointed Officier dans l’Ordre National du Mérite (Officer of the National Order of Merit) and Officier dans l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur (Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour).

“The development of the Deinococci, a previously-unknown type of bacteria, extremely rich and robust for making chemical compounds by biological processes (as opposed to petrochemical methods) is an extremely promising innovation. I was therefore very keen to come and lead the DEINOVE SAB, since their scientific and technological portfolio is so rich in potential for applications in bioenergy and green chemistry on a world-wide scale”, Jacqueline Lecourtier stated.

“We are very pleased and proud that Madame Jacqueline Lecourtier has accepted the leadership of our SAB. Her extensive research experience in the fields of energy, applied chemistry, biotechnologies and materials, will reinforce the links between science and DEINOVE’s present and future potential application domains, and constitute a major advantage for our company”, commented Emmanuel Petiot, CEO of DEINOVE.

About DEINOVE

DEINOVE (Alternext Paris:ALDEI) is ushering in a new era of green chemistry order by designing and developing new standards of production based on bacteria of untapped potential: the Deinococci. Taking advantage of the bacteria’s unique genetic properties and unusual robustness, DEINOVE optimizes natural fermentation and metabolic capabilities of these bacterial “micro-factories” to produce high value added products from non-food biomass. The Company’s primary markets are 2nd generation biofuels (DEINOL) and chemical intermediates (DEINOCHEM). Listed on Alternext since April 2010, DEINOVE was founded by Philippe Pouletty MD, General Partner of TRUFFLE CAPITAL, and Professor Miroslav Radman, of the Faculty of Medicine of the University René Descartes. The company employs over 40 people in its new offices and laboratories located at the Biopôle Euromédecine, in Montpellier.
