Datameer appoints Mark Burton to its Board of Directors

– USA, CA – Datameer, the only end-to-end big data analytics application purpose-built for Hadoop, today announced it has appointed operating executive, board member and advisor, Mark Burton, to its board of directors. Burton brings with him three decades of operating and advisory experience to hyper-growth companies. His appointment will further strengthen Datameer’s rapid acceleration.

Burton’s software success includes modern databases, data and application integration, business intelligence and monetizing of open source. He is concurrently serving as executive chairman at Zend Technologies, as well as an independent board member at MuleSoft and Infobright. In addition, Burton is a board observer and advisor to MongoDB and UpThere. Most recently, Burton was an independent board member at Jaspersoft (acquired by Tibco).

“I was attracted to Datameer by their first-to-market advantage in big data analytics with fastest time to insight and am thrilled to be joining their board of directors,” said Burton. “Datameer is helping customers drive significant business value beyond any other solution by eliminating the complexities of working with Hadoop.”

His operating background includes an early executive role with Informatica where he helped grow revenues from $10 million to over$150 million in sales, resulting in a successful IPO in 1999. He was also EVP worldwide sales and alliances at MySQL where he contributed to the $1 billion acquisition by Sun Microsystems in 2008.

“Burton has incredible vision and an unparalleled understanding of disruptive technologies. We are honored to welcome him to our board,” said Stefan Groschupf, CEO of Datameer. “He has an indisputable track record of advising companies through rapid expansion and will provide exactly the type of strategic insight Datameer needs to capitalize on our opportunities on the horizon.”
