Cylance appoints Art Coviello to its Board of Directors

– USA, CA – Cylance, the company that is revolutionizing cybersecurity with products and services that proactively prevent, rather than just reactively detect, advanced persistent threats and malware, today announced that Art Coviello, formerly CEO of RSA, and Executive Chairman of RSA, the security division of EMC, has joined its Board of Directors.

Mr. Coviello is widely recognized as one of the cybersecurity industry’s most respected and influential leaders. During his tenure at RSA, the company evolved from its roots in authentication and encryption to being a leader in several of the most important emerging areas of information security, including security analytics, identity, and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC). Mr. Coviello was a driving force in RSA’s rapid growth, increasing revenue from $25 million in 1995 to over $1 billion at the time of his retirement as its Executive Chairman in 2015. Prior to RSA’s acquisition by EMC, Coviello was RSA’s Chief Executive Officer. He is currently a venture partner at Rally Ventures.

“Cylance has become one of the world’s most important cybersecurity companies in a short period of time because it delivers a level of endpoint security that far exceeds what is mistakenly believed to be acceptable or prudent today,” said Art Coviello. “Its leadership team, engineering talent, investors, and rapidly growing share of the enterprise market are all indicators of the shift to much more technologically sophisticated, preventative approaches to defeating cyber-attacks that I believe Cylance is leading. The efficacy of their approach speaks for itself, and is what’s needed now to secure digital assets and infrastructure.”

“Art Coviello is joining the Cylance Board of Directors at a time when our artificial intelligence-based and preventative approach to cybersecurity is becoming recognized as significantly more effective at neutralizing threats than the archaic detect and respond approaches in wide use today,” said Stuart McClure, Chief Executive Officer of Cylance. “Art’s reputation in the industry, coupled with his deep domain expertise and operating experience will greatly assist us in our quest to redefine enterprise security standards, and make Cylance the world’s leading cybersecurity company.”

Mr. Coviello had been a Director of AtHoc, Inc. until its acquisition in September by BlackBerry. He is a Director of EnerNOC, Inc. and serves as its lead independent Director.

About Cylance, Inc.

Cylance is the only company to offer a preventive cybersecurity solution that stops over 99.9% of advanced threats and malware at the most vulnerable point: the endpoint. Applying a revolutionary artificial intelligence approach, the Cylance endpoint security solution, CylancePROTECT, analyzes the DNA of code prior to its execution on the endpoint to find and prevent threats others can’t, while using a fraction of the system resources associated with endpoint anti-virus and detect and respond solutions that are widely deployed in enterprises today.
