C. Mondavi & Family announces changes to Board of Directors and Corporate Governance

– USA, CA – C. Mondavi & Family, a 72-year-old family-owned wine company, has made significant changes to its Fiduciary Board of Directors. Scott Thomas has been named chairman and four members have been added.

“Since my parents purchased the historic Charles Krug Winery in 1943, we’ve maintained a steadfast commitment to operate as a family business. When we make decisions, we consider the impact on future generations. That was the impetus for the changes to the fiduciary board – to ensure our viability for generations to come,” said Peter Mondavi Sr. who turned 101 Nov. 8.

The changes and additions are as follows:

  • Peter Mondavi Sr. has moved from chairman to chairman emeritus.
  • Scott Thomas has been named chairman. A veteran attorney specializing in trusts, estates and wine law, Thomas has been a long-time legal representative for C. Mondavi & Family.
  • Marc Mondavi, the son of Peter Mondavi Sr. and co-proprietor of C. Mondavi & Family, will continue to serve on the board.
  • Peter Mondavi Jr., the son of Peter Mondavi Sr. and co-proprietor of C. Mondavi & Family, will also continue to serve on the board.

John Bell has been named a new independent director. The author of Do Less Better: The Power of Strategic Sacrifice in a Complex World, former packaged goods CEO of Jacobs Suchard North America and strategy consultant to some of the world’s most respected food and beverage organizations, he has served as a board director and counseled several family-owned companies.

Pascal Levensohn is a new independent director. Levensohn is an expert in the field of finance, family business and board leadership. He has been both the managing partner of Levensohn Venture Partners, an investment advisory group, and the CEO of Generation Strategic Advisors, since 1996.

Linda Graebner is a new independent director. She is an entrepreneur and CEO who has led and grown multiple consumer products companies. Additionally, she has served on boards of directors for food, beverage, personal care and household products companies. Graebner brings deep experience overseeing marketing divisions for large consumer products companies, including Dole Food Company and Crown Zellerbach.

Wendy Lane Stevens has been named a new independent director. The founder of LANE, a national public relations agency based in Portland and New York, Lane Stevens brings deep expertise in marketing and public relations for national wine brands.

Brothers Marc Mondavi and Peter Mondavi Jr. commented in a joint statement, “This historic move solidifies our commitment to our family business. This talented board is a significant strategic decision to make our intentions a reality.”

With this announcement Mike Jaeger, who joined the company in 2011, is named president and CEO.
